Is it possible to beat galaxy 4 without trading?

Basically, Galaxy 4: Supply and Demand is meant to be a trading situation. However, it may be possible to beat it by holding resources. Has anyone been able accomplish this? The reason I ask is that Styles has said that he did it, but I have tried a few times and failed. So is it actually possible? What am I missing?

Very possible, buy 6 scav and attack the assassins pairs, 1 pair at a time, be careful not to get attacked by 2 pairs, ( 4 assassins) Earn points buy more scavs, that is how I did it without trading.

Ok, I guess that works. But what about galaxy 5? If someone can find a way to beat that one without trading, my hat is off to you. To the best of my knowledge, no one has been able to do that

You now have new knowledge. Wow cool what does my new hat look like? 16 armor left, with NO trading. I will admit it was a tougher challenge. I had 78 armor left when I used trading. PM me and I will tell you where to send the hat. Who is this Styles I keep hearing about? Sounds like a cool person to me.

OSUFootball, you are good, man. I have tried 10+ times to beat 4 without trading. I have died each time. I am not going to play any other galaxy until I can do it. That's it. If you did it, I can do it. I tried rushing them right off the bat a few times with various forces. I don't think that's the way, though. It must be the Mercenaries. Got to take their planets! I bet that's the key.

Well thanks tdog, yes my sooners are usually in the big one (4 of the last 9) but have only won one, my only excuse for them is we always have to play the championship in our opponents home state, which is a road game for us and home game for them which makes it very difficult. I will be the first to tell you that although winning #4 is possible without trading it is probably not the ideal way. My best with trading is 145 Star base Armour left and without trading is only 71 left. This is how I do it. I spend my money on 6 scavengers and head to the right towards the space port and immediately kill the 2 assassins, earn 10 plus my time and buy another scavenger ( be careful and micro manage as to not lose any ships). Then I take my 7 scavengers up and to the left of the space port about 2 to 3 squares away from my enemy. This will allow you to kill the few cruisers they send your way and the additional assassins for money. Your scavengers are too slow to kill the assassins in one pass so it will probably take 2 passes for you to kill them. You have to pick a good spot on the board and may have to move up or down a square but let them come to you and in interm you can heal. Key is not to lose any ships, let them do the passing, 2 of their ships go diagonal and 1 vertically and 1 horizontally. Move to where you are only attacking 1 pair of assassins at a time, while killing the 2 cruisers that will be coming your way. After you kill all the assassins, you could have 8, 9 or 10 scavengers by now, but at some point you will need to buy 3 bombers and take your scavengers and kill their star base.
